Our Story
Established under the Decision No. 487/QD-DHTN dated June 16, 2011 by the President of Thai Nguyen University, the International School (ISTNU) serves as an academic institution to offer undergraduate and graduate programs in the fields of economics, management, finance and management of natural resources - environment. The birth of the ISTNU is the concretization of the policy of the Party and State and the direction of the Ministry of Education and Training on strengthening international cooperation in the field of education, contributing to the rapid development of staff with high professional qualifications and good foreign language ability to serve international integration for socio-economic development.
ISTNU currently has 37 permanent lecturers, including 03 associate professors, 11 doctoral degree holders and 23 master’s degree holders and 03 teaching assisstants. Most of the lecturers have earned their master’s and doctorate degrees from foreign countries. Their English competency reaches 6.5 IELTS or higher. In addition, those who are poviding quality lectures to the students of ISTNU are lecturers from different departments, units and other member universities of TNU. The visiting professors from local and international partners of ISTNU are also contributing greatly to the eduation and training of the students.
ISTNU has 22 supporting staff, among those 16 have obtained master’s degrees while the other young staff pursueing higher education. Most of those have met the requirements and standards on information technology and foreign language proficiency in accordance with the existing regulations of TNU.

Developing in the direction of approaching the quality of training in the region and in the world, training high-quality human resources in accordance with regional and international standards, implementing scientific research and technology transferring activities, providing international consulting activities for socio-economic development in the Northern mountainous region and the whole country.
Organizational structure
Administration Organization: ISTNU has the Board of Deans, 03 functional departments, including Department of Academic, Scientific Research and International Cooperation, Department of General Administration and Department of Student Affairs, and 03 Faculties, including Faculty of Basic Sciences, Faculty of Economics and Management and Faculty of Life Science.
